Birthday Thanks Giving

As it occasionally happens, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving day this year. Seems very appropriate, given some of the challenges of the last several weeks. With all the enthusiasm of a long distance runner that tries to win the race in the first 100 yards (yes, I had that experience in my youth) to start my retirement, I was once again reminded why health and longevity cannot be taken for granted. Every birthday of my last 15 have been cause for celebration for their bonus, ever more so now. My thanks-giving this year is concentrated on family and close friends - for all the strength their prayers, thoughts, and good wishes provided, allowing me to  power through those ultimately minor maladies. Like health, that fortune of strong family and friends cannot be assumed or taken for granted. Thanks SO much to all of you!
