My Liberal Friends

Dear liberal friends, why do you feel compelled to mirror the same behaviors you suppose to detest, but much more publicly through your postings on Facebook. They don't seem to be intended to highlight a view, let alone inform or debate or offer elements of critical thinking. They seem to often just berate and belittle, with the sole intent of marginalizing opposing or contrasting viewpoints. The intolerance you cite as the bad behavior of conservatives, permeates your rantings. The abhorrent imposition of values you claim the religious right is foisting on society is matched by the imposition of political correctness you impose on social conversation and behavior.

It's as though you assume your worldview should be obvious and common, like the laws of nature or physics, and that all of your friends must surely share those views. Otherwise they wouldn't be friends, right?

In fact, from a Facebook perspective, we're no longer... friends that is. Though probably not obvious to you, I "unfollowed" you so your postings wouldn't show up on my newsfeed. Too bad, because I would like to share in your successes, life events, and family developments. It's just that I can't stand the political bantering. Instead, I'll look forward to catching up with you in person through verbal conversation, where I'm confident you'll restrain yourself from political pontification.

'nuff said....
